Install Oracle Linux 6.4(Step By Step)

System Requirements : Below Installation tested on following system requirements.

Host Window : Windows 7 64 bit with 8 GB Ram, process Cor i5 CPU @ 3.20 GHz.
Virtual Box : 4.3
Oracle Linux : 6.4
Oracle Linux (Host Name) : oraerrors
Step 1: Open the Virtual Box and click on "New" option in VB.
Step 5: Same popup window will show different option "Hard disk file type" choose "VDI (Virtualbox disk Image)" option and click on "Next".
Step 6: Same popup window will show different option "Storage on physical hard disk" choose "Dynamically allocated" option and click on "Next".
Step 7: Same popup window will show different option "File location and size" click on "folder icon" to select your hard disk location and give you Hard Disk Size "100 GB In my case" option and click on "Create".
Step 8: Select your machine "oraerrors" and click on "Setting" option to set some modification for batter performance.
Step 9: Setting dialog box will popup, Select "General" option and In General choose "Advanced" TAB option, change both option Shared Clipboard & Drag'n'Drop to Bidirectional.
Step 10: Now select "Storage" option and Click on "Empty" disk option after select that in right side another option come in picture, click on "disk symbol" to choose your "Oracle Linux 6.4 ISO image".
Step 11: Select "Network"option to set network configuration, select "Host-Only-Adopter" in Attached to option.
Step 12: Select "Shared Folders" and click on "Folder Icon" near to Access word and one window will popup "Add Share", click on "Drop Down Arrow" to select "other.." option and choose a folder for sharing data to "Host Windows to inside Oracle Linux 6.4".
Step 13: After selecting your Shared folder, tick both checked box "Read-only & Aut-Mount". And click "OK" option in both windows "Add Share & Setting".
Step 14: Select your machine "oraerrors" & click on "Start" option to start your machine to install Oracle Linux 6.4
Step 15: Let's start to install Oracle Linux 6.4, Select and Enter "Install or upgrade an existing system" option.
Step 16: Select "Skip" and hit enter.
Step 17: Click on "Next".
Step 18: Click on "Next".
Step 19: Click on "Next".
Step 20: Select "Basic Storage Devices" option & Click on "Next".
Step 21: Choose "Yes, discard any data" option.
Step 22: Choose any "Hostname" in my case it's "oraerrors".
Step 23: On the same window come down and click on "Configure Network", Once dialog box will open, select "System eth0" and click "Edit" option.
Step 24: Now Edit window will popup, checked "Connect automatically" box & select "IPV4 Setting" TAB and choose "Automatic (DHCP) Addresses only" option via drop down arrow. Click on "Apply".
Step 25: Select your "Country" in Map, In my case "India". Click on "Next" option.
Step 26: Choose your "Root Password".
Step 27: Select "Use Anyway" & click on "Next".
Step 28: Select "Create Custom Layout" Option and Click on "Next".
Step 29: Click on "Create" which in Red Circle, Now click on "Create" which in Green Circle.
Step 30: Choose "/" as a root in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "5000 MB", checked on "Force to be a Primary Partition" and now "OK".
Step 31: This time choose "/boot" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "200 MB", checked on "Force to be a Primary Partition" and "OK".
Step 32: This time choose "/home" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "4000 MB" and "OK".
Step 33: This time choose "/tmp" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "8000 MB" and "OK".
Step 34: This time choose "/usr" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "10000 MB", checked on "Force to be a Primary Partition" and "OK".
Step 35: This time choose "/var" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "2000 MB" and "OK".
Step 36: This time choose "/opt" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "15000 MB" and "OK".
Step 37: This time choose "/u01" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "30000 MB" and "OK".
Step 38: This time choose "/backup" in Mount Point, File system type should be "ext4", size might be "20000 MB" and "OK".
Step 39: This time only choose File system type should be "swap", size might be "4000 MB" and "OK".
Step 40: Here is list of partitions we have created. Click on "Next".
Step 41: Click on "Format" option.
Step 42: Click on "Write changes to disk".
Step 43: Click on "Next".
Step 44: Select 3 option here "Desktop, High Availability & Load Balancer" now select "Customize Now" option and click on "Next"
Step 45: Select "Base System" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 46: Select "Base System" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 47: Select "Servers" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 48: Select "Web Services" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 49: Select "Databases" and don't select any options.
Step 50: Select "System Management" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 51: Select "System Management" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 52: Select "Desktop" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 53: Select "Applications" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 54: Select "Development" and select All right side option which Under Red Circle.
Step 55: Click on "Next".
Step 56: Wait of it, it will checking Dependencies.
Step 57: Wait for it, it stating installation process.
Step 58: Click on "Reboot" option and wait to restart you machine.
Step 59: Click on "Next".
Step 60: Select "Yes, I agree to the Licences Agreement" & click on "Forward".
Step 61: Select "No, I prefer to register at a later time." & click on "Forward".
Step 62: Select "No thanks, I'll connect later" & click on "Forward".
Step 63: Click on "Forward".
Step 64: Click on "Forward".
Step 65: Click on "Yes".
Step 66: Click on "Forward".
Step 67: Click on "Finish".
Step 68: Enter "root" username & click on "Log In".
Step 69: Select "Device" Option in VirtualBox and click on "Insert Guest Addition CD image..".
Step 70: One dialog box will open, click on "Ok".
Step 71: In the same dialog box click on "Run".
Step 72: Wait for it, Console will open and it will perform some activity itself only. wait for option on screen "Press Return to close this window.. ".
Step 73: To add 2 additional Hard Disk to make ASM disk. One for DATA storage and second for Archive Storage.
Select your machine "oraerrors" click on "Setting" option.
Step 74: "Setting" dialog will open, select "Storage" option and click on "Controller : SATA" Option, Click on "Disk Symbol" to add a hard disk.
Step 75: It will open a window, Click on "Create new disk".
Step 76: Select on "VDI" & Click on "Next".
Step 77: This time you have to select "Fixed Size" option & Click on "Next".
Step 78: Click on "Folder icon" to choose path to store your virtual hard disk and hard disk size too. In my case it's "6 GB" only.
Step 79: This is virtual hard disk location. where am I storing.
Step 80: Virtual Hard disk's path & click on "Create".
Step 81 Wait for it, Hard disk creation under process.
Step 82 Again repeat "Step 73 to 80" to create another virtual Hard disk for Archive storage. like FRA.
